What are good options for lab-grade USB temperature sensors with user calibration?
Most Dracal instruments are offered with the -CAL option, a 3-point user calibration mechanism that lets you correct the natural drift of a sensor over the years (see its advantages). Our most popular lab-grade choices:
- TMP300: stainless steel probe, from -50 °C to 150 °C, with a typical accuracy of ±0.101 °C from 0 °C to 30 °C and ±0.166 °C from -20 °C to 0 °C. The further the range extends from 0 °C, the wider the uncertainty, as the datasheet details.
- RTD300 with a Pt100 probe, from -200 °C to 800 °C: the accuracy of the system is the sum of the transmitter and the probe. At 0 °C, that gives about ±0.12 °C with our 1/3 DIN RTD-PT100-SIL probe, or about ±0.32 °C with a standard class B Pt100 probe (here is why).
- PTH450 or TRH450: ±0.1 °C from 20 °C to 60 °C, plus humidity (and pressure for the PTH450)
Calibration is done in a few clicks in DracalView (here is how), or by programming with dracal-usb-cal. It is reversible: you can disable the correction at any time and return to the factory values. Our temperature sensor comparison will help you choose.
