How can I record temperature, humidity, and dew point with one device?
With any Dracal sensor that measures both temperature and relative humidity. All our TRH and PTH sensors automatically return a virtual channel in which the dew point is calculated in real time, alongside humidex and heat index. The PTH series adds barometric pressure (and altitude) to the same device.
To record everything:
- Plug the sensor in and launch DracalView (free)
- In the Logging tab, check the temperature, humidity and dew point channels (or simply "Select All")
- Choose your .csv file and click Start
The dew point channel is also available through our command line tool and our other integration tools if you prefer to collect the data in your own software.
One exception: in VCP mode (Virtual COM Port option), the sensor only transmits its real channels, temperature and relative humidity (see the VCP guide). The dew point, a virtual channel, is not transmitted. If you use the VCP option, calculate the dew point in your own code from those two values.
One tip: since the dew point is derived from temperature and humidity, its accuracy depends on both. In very humid environments, make sure the sensor stays above the dew point, as condensation on the sensing element will distort the readings.
