What are good solutions for monitoring storage rooms for museums and archives?

Collections need stable conditions, and proof that they stayed stable over time. Your conservation policy sets the target ranges (for guidance, see the Canadian Conservation Institute page on incorrect relative humidity). The monitoring system's job is to record, without gaps, what really happened in each room.

A simple and reliable setup with Dracal:

  • One temperature and humidity sensor per room or per display case, for example a TRH450, or a PTH450 if you also want barometric pressure
  • A SensGate that records on its own memory, keeps logging during network outages and resumes by itself after a power failure
  • An ISO/IEC 17025 traceable certificate if your loans or insurers require calibrated instruments (see the steps)

There is no subscription or recurring fee, and the data stays on your network. One limit to know: our software does not send alarms. If you need alerts, our MQTT Publisher can feed the system that will manage them.
